I have always made music. It is how I stay curious, playful, connected and alive. Over more than twenty years of recording and performing, I have released a rich and varied body of work, toured throughout the UK, Europe and Japan, and followed each new project as an invitation into unknown territory. Music continues to be both my compass and my meeting place—a way of exploring and bringing people together.
I also have a background in fine art, and making music has never felt separate from making visual art. I often hand-embroider my album covers and create videos and artworks to accompany my releases. I love the way these different forms speak to one another, opening up the creative world around the songs.

Over the years, making music videos has become a deeply collaborative and joyful part of my creative process, allowing the music to take on new colours, and stories. I have been fortunate to work with many talented filmmakers and artists, including Tom Jacob and Nirvana Warner Hughes (The Lemon Thief), Sam Wisternoff, Chris Lucraft of Broken Sound Records, and my sister Betsy Dadd, who has lovingly made paintings and animated films alongside my music. Together, these visual works open another doorway into the songs, inviting people further into the landscapes and imagination from which they emerge.

performance highlights
Live music has gifted me some of the deepest friendships of my life. More than anything, I play music with others for the joy of it—for the magic that happens when people listen, improvise and create together. Over the years I have been incredibly lucky to find musical kin in many places: from open mic nights in Winchester with Rozi Plain and Kate Stables, to working on Bristol's ferry boats and forming The Hand with Will Newsome, to meeting the wonderful Brighton multi-instrumentalists Emma Gatrill and Marcus Hamblett, and later finding a second musical home in Japan through my marriage to Ichi and the country's vibrant underground DIY scene.
Today, my live band continues to evolve with each new body of work and is made up of dear friends and brilliant musicians, including drummer and producer Rob Pemberton, bassist Alex Heane, synth player Charlotte West and, most recently, saxophonist Greg Sterland. In recent years, OAK Choir has also become part of my performances and recordings, bringing another layer of collective voice and connection to the music. Every concert feels less like a performance and more like a gathering—a chance to share in the joy of making music together.
Archiving these moments is going to unfurl over time, a process that is filling me with a sense of abundance and gratitude for the richness of all these musical connections. So many memories of touring with my children which I will dig out over time.
